It’s a fact that we need protein, I am not going to argue about how much protein we need, but from what I have been told, we really need protein.

It’s a fairly complex statement, because as you were told a few days ago from the video I posted related to the protein myth, I asked the question; do we really need protein?

The reason I asked this, is that a lot of people argue that you can get everything you need from raw foods (vegetables). Remember that I am a newbie at this, but from what I understand, amino acids are the basic structural building units of protein and vegetables consists of fairly great amounts amino acids.

Remember, I am talking about raw foods and not cooked vegetables.

I just read that a protein is a long train of amino acids linked together. And that proteins are really the construction material of the human body, like bricks are for a building.

It seems to me that people like you and me can get enough protein by eating raw vegetables (probably cooked vegetables as well), but body builders need meat or at least dairy products to get enough proteins to build their huge muscles, or maybe not?

So, we need protein because it’s essential to our body.

Our tissues, nerves, and bones are made up mostly of protein. Proteins help give structure to our cells and is used for growth, tissue repair, used to make essential hormones and enzymes.

But how much protein do we need, and do we really need to think about our proteins?
