Let me tell you a few things about almonds and why you should consider eating more of them starting today. As an example, 23 almonds provides 6 grams of protein, well, that’s not enough for your daily protein needs, but it’s a start. Almonds are packed with proteins, apx. 18%. They are also high in fiber, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and vitamin E.
Health benefits
Eating almonds will lower your blood cholesterol levels. Almonds also helps prevent Osteoporosis and regulate blood pressure. Including almonds as a part of your daily diet will help fighting diabetes and heart diseases.
Weight loss with almonds
I am not sure if you should be eating almonds in order to loose weight or not, because almonds are high in fat. Eating almonds may help stave off hunger, and introducing them to your meals will actually make meals more satisfying. When overweight Americans included almonds in their daily weight loss diet, they increased their weight loss by 62%, and it’s one of the healthiest snacks.
So, when it comes to weight loss, if you start eating almonds instead of regular snacks (like potato chips and chocolate), you’ll be off to a great start on your diet. And if you eat a lot of almonds, like 70 – 75, it fills you up, and you will be less likely to snack later on.
Almonds for breakfast
I have introduced almonds to my body by adding them to my daily breakfast shake. The reason I am now eating/drinking almonds is that they are healthy, nutritious and they taste really good. There are various healthy and great tasting breakfast recipes where you add almonds. You can make oat and almond breakfast bars, almond breakfast bread, or have an almond smoothie for breakfast.
Almonds for dinner
I have to confess, I don’t think that I have ever had almonds for dinner. I live in Norway, and there’s no tradition for using almonds for dinner (at least that’s what I think, there have to be a reason why I have never had almonds for dinner, so this is my best guess).
Soon though, I’ll be making dinner where I include almonds. I am not sure which recipes I’ll use just yet, but I guess that it might be tomato pesto with almonds, pasta with chickpeas and almonds, or I might use almonds in my pizza from now on.

I just took up almond eating. As far as it having a lot of fat, you have nothing to worry about. There are healthy fats out there that aren’t threatening to your diet. People are often mislead by the misused term “fat”. Raw almonds are in the catagory of good fats. Cocanut oil is another ingredient I’ve become fond of, which also is a good fat. It is a great replacement for other oils in cooking and adds great flavor. Avocados are another of my favorites when it comes to good fats and adding good flavor. The list goes on and on.
